Cloud Services on Sony Ericsson Elm (J10i)

Not so long until I realize Sony Ericsson Elm is just all I need in a cellphone.

Introduced in Mar 2010, Elm got an edge over its competitors with modern look, connectivity and entertainment.  I won’t talk more about this, as Google search results do better.

Now I spend days to connect the Elm with online services in which most of them are from Google.

- Google Mail & Google Calendar

Thanks to Exchange ActiveSync, I got calendar events and emails synced to phone, updated once a day.

- Google Search

Elm got an built-in Google search service so I just press the right soft key at home screen to access it.

- Google Maps & Latitude

A built-in function also, coming with version 3.0. And I only have to log in Google account to use Latitude.

- Google Reader & Google Docs

These things are not built in but beautifully available on Opera Mini 4.1 mobile browser. I can read documents and spreadsheets now.

- Video & photo services:

Videos can be easily uploaded to Youtube by an app in Elm. I tested a 480p 45s clip and it took 10m to complete. As for photos, I got more choices among Flickr, Picasa and Blogger.

So how a smartphone is defined changes again with Elm.
